The Blue Plate Story

"Once upon a day, across America, along routes of travel, stood many a roadhouse, tavern or country kitchen, promising good home cooking to both passersby and the local crowd. Many of these eateries offered a daily offering of what was freshest from the kitchen — and these became known as "blue plate specials" (though no one seems to really know why).

Inspired by these quintessentially American restaurants, Blue Plate Kitchen sits at the junction of N. Main and Route 44 — a place full of both those "traveling through" and "local folk". We are a casual, fun, modern roadhouse, serving good home cooking and modern comfort food, as well as plenty of craft beers, wines (including eight varietals on tap) & spirits. 

We love food and love to share food with those we love. Our menu is inspired both by the seasons and what is available from our local farmers, as well as by the rich tradition of American regional cooking. From New England classics to Southern fare, Midwest meat and potatoes to California's Asian Pacific Rim — our food is both classic and eclectic, which makes it, in our opinion, perfectly American. 

Our blackboard lists our daily Blue Plate Specials, which are our freshest and most interesting plates. We are a scratch kitchen and use fresh, local & sustainable meats, fish, produce & dairy whenever possible.
